There are so many times that I talk with Grandma, and she says something that's just incredibly blog-worthy; without paper to write it down, the little gems rarely stick in my mind long enough to get my fingers to the keyboard. However, today I was slick! When Grandma dropped the first of what would be two perfect Grandma-isms, I grabbed a Post-It note to document it word-for-word! These are worth their weight in gold; trust me!
Ok, so here's the first one. We got to talking about Sunday's race, and she said "Oh, I'll be so tired!" Yes, you read that right; she will be so tired! Love it! Then, just a minute or two later, she said "I'm just getting prepared." Yup, she is getting prepared for the race! Honestly, is she not the most awesome Grandma out there?!
I plan to do what I did at SoMo: call Grandma for a pep talk before the race. (There aren't many people who won't mind getting a phone call before 6am; she's one who falls into this category! Heck, some days she's up at 4am, so 5:45 is "late" to her; by then, she's already had 1 or 2 cups of coffee and some breakfast.) Then, once the race is over, I'll give her another call to update her on the happenings. Heck, if I get to a point where I decide to walk a lap, I might just grab the phone and give her a call during the race! Only Grandma could get that to happen!
